Gym shoes, short stairs and balance exercises - this is how to prevent new Biden falls
A majority of US voters believe that Joe Biden, at 80 years old, is too old to stand in next year's presidential election, according to a survey by the Wall Street Journal. Now his campaign staff is doing everything to ensure that the president's detractors don't get any more grist to their mill. Their mission: to prevent him from falling again at all costs, writes Axios.
Since his last high-profile fall in June, the president has started wearing sneakers more often than he did before, the site notes. In addition, he has begun boarding the presidential plane Air Force One on the lower floor instead of the upper one, allowing him to use a shorter staircase.
Already in November 2021, Biden also started working with a physical therapist and has since been doing exercises to improve his balance.

Trump's harsh words this weekend: "Treason - DEATH!"
Donald Trump has been responsible for increasing rhetoric in recent days. The former president, who hopes for four new years in the White House after next year's election, has delivered several heated posts online, writes Axios.
Trump began the weekend by accusing outgoing Defense Secretary Mark Milley of treason, after The Atlantic published an article about Milley's handling of several situations during Trump's time in office.
"This is such an outrageous act that the punishment in the past would have been DEATH!" writes Trump on his platform Truth Social.
A couple of days later, he instead directed the cape at NBC's owner company Comcast. Here, too, it was about accusations of treason, and Trump promised to investigate the company for "one-sided and mean reporting".
In additional posts, Trump took aim at Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro, and he also wrote about how his own efforts were instrumental in the Supreme Court overturning the abortion ruling Roe v. Wade.

Hutchinson misses the debate - and Trump skips it
Seven Republican politicians have qualified to appear in Wednesday's televised debate in the race for the White House: Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tim Scott, Chris Christie and Doug Burgum. That's what Fox News writes.
Compared to the first debate, only one presidential candidate is no longer allowed to participate: Asa Hutchinson. He doesn't have enough donors and voters in opinion polls. Earlier last fall, Politico described the 72-year-old as "the most normal" in the starting field.
Pre-favourite Donald Trump is not taking part in this debate either.
