Poland's president threatens to veto media reform
Polish President Andrzej Duda is threatening to veto the new government's budget if the high-profile media reform is not scrapped, Politico reports.
The site describes it as the biggest conflict so far between the president and the newly appointed prime minister, Donald Tusk. The media reform aims to take back control of the country's state media from loyalists to the former ruling party, the nationalist Law & Justice, which Duda is close to.
However, Tusk has been criticized for handing over control to his own newly appointed Ministry of Culture, and Duda justifies his threat of a veto by saying that the action is against the constitution.

Tech giants cut back on diversity projects in 2023
After the death of George Floyd in 2020, American tech giants invested in different types of diversity programs. But now the investments are scaled back, reports CNBC.
By mid-2023, the number of diversity-related job postings had dropped by 44 percent, and both Google and Meta have cut staff and projects related to diversity efforts.
- When there is a downturn in the economy, diversity work is often the first to get a reduced budget, but I have probably never seen such a clear contrast as this year, says Melinda Briana Epler, CEO of the consulting company Empowia, to CNBC.
