Trump pressured election workers in recorded phone call
Then-President Donald Trump personally pressured two Republican election workers in Michigan not to approve the state's election results in the 2020 election. This is according to previously unknown recordings obtained by The Detroit News.
- We have to fight for our country. We can't let these guys take our country away from us, Trump is heard saying in the recorded phone call on November 17, 2020, two weeks after the election.
Trump and then-party chief Ronna McDaniel, who also attended the call, promised to arrange lawyers for the two election workers.
In a comment, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung says that Trump "acted according to his duty as president to ensure the integrity of the election," writes Reuters.
