Medical cannabis becomes legal in Denmark
A majority in the Danish Parliament has agreed that a temporary law that allows Danish doctors to prescribe cannabis for medical purposes becomes permanent, reports TV2.
A trial period began in 2018 and ran until the end of 2025, but patients with, for example, multiple sclerosis or cancer should be able to be treated with cannabis.
Social Affairs Minister Sophie Løhde, who represents the bourgeois Venstre, says that it is an alternative to other medicine that did not have the desired effect.

British soldier spied for Iran: 'Cynical game'
Daniel Khalife, 23, a former soldier in the British Defense Forces, has pleaded guilty to spying for Iran, the BBC reports.
Shortly after enlisting in the army in September 2018, Khalife contacted a man linked to Iranian intelligence. He then contacted the British intelligence agency MI6 and stated that he wanted to become a double agent. Something that the prosecutors describe as a "cynical game".
Khalife collected sensitive information that could have posed a real threat if it fell into the wrong hands.
The 23-year-old also admitted that he had escaped from prison, pending trial, by tying himself under a truck that was transporting food. The escape led to a national police manhunt that received a lot of media attention.
The penalty has not yet been announced.
