Poland wants to see joint patrolling of the Baltic Sea
Poland proposes a new joint naval patrol of the NATO countries in the Baltic Sea, reports Bloomberg.
- A collaboration between countries around the Baltic Sea that have the same sense of threat from Russia, says the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk in connection with the ongoing Nordic-Baltic meeting at Harpsund.
Earlier in November, underwater cables were destroyed in the Baltic Sea and the authorities are investigating sabotage. The suspicions are directed at Russia, which is believed to have carried out the sabotage via a Chinese ship, writes TT.
Analysis firm: It is unlikely that it was not intentional
The crew of the Chinese vessel Yi Peng 3 has not yet been questioned about the cable breaks in the Baltic Sea, the Wall Street Journal reports. According to the newspaper's information, the ship's anchor has been dragged on the bottom for 16 miles and the analysis company Kpler believes that it has been done on purpose.
The conclusion is based, among other things, on the fact that there were calm weather conditions and no major waves when the underwater cable between Sweden and Lithuania was damaged.
"The probability that the anchor was accidentally dragged seems to be minimal," the company writes in an analysis of the events.
