One million people are without power in Ukraine after widespread attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.

At the same time, the temperature is around zero in many places.

Explosions have been reported in several cities, including Odessa, Kropyvnytskyi, Kharkiv, Rivne and Lutsk, writes The Guardian.

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko says in Ukrainian media that energy infrastructure is under "massive attack" and that attacks on energy facilities are ongoing across the country.

After the attacks, the authorities quickly imposed emergency power cuts in several regions. One million people are without power during Thursday.

A source in the Ukrainian energy industry states that several nuclear power plant units have been disconnected from the electricity system, according to Reuters.

No power in the middle of the winter cold

At the same time, temperatures in the country are around zero degrees.

In the capital, Kiev, the air defense has been activated, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko announces on Telegram that debris from robots has fallen in two places in the city. No people were injured in the attacks.

The mayor is also urging residents to stay off the city's streets.

"Helped by his crazy allies"

The head of Ukraine's presidential office, Andriy Yermak, calls the Russian attacks "terrorist tactics."

“They have stockpiled robots to strike against Ukrainian infrastructure, to wage war against civilians in the cold season, in the winter. They have been helped by their crazy allies, especially from North Korea,” he writes on his Telegram channel.

Sources in the Ukrainian energy industry state that  Russia used
in this morning's attacks, according to Reuters. The claim has not been confirmed
