Hezbollah: Israel's attacks were not directed at us

There are no Hezbollah facilities in the parts of Beirut that were attacked by Israel during the day. This is stated by Amin Sherri, one of Hezbollah's members of parliament, according to Reuters.

The Israeli military states that during Tuesday it attacked 20 different targets in Beirut. The attack is described by several media as the biggest since the war began.

At the same time, a new analysis by NBC News shows that Israel destroyed 42 percent of all buildings in the areas they occupied in southern Lebanon. 1.4 million Lebanese and almost 100,000 Israelis have been forced to flee because of the war.

"The Israeli military tries not to damage civilian infrastructure too much and attacks exclusively based on the security needs of civilian Israelis," the military writes in a statement to the television channel.

Israel approves ceasefire proposal in Lebanon

Israel's war cabinet has voted yes to a proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon, reports Israeli Channel 12 according to Reuters. The ceasefire is expected to take effect on Wednesday.

The agreement will mean that both Hezbollah and Israel withdraw from southern Lebanon, where ground battles have been fought since September. Instead, the area is to be monitored by the Lebanese government army with the support of the UN.

The Israeli War Cabinet on Tuesday night approved the proposal in a closed vote. Information to several media has claimed that Netanyahu had "in principle" approved an agreement already this weekend. At the same time, during the day, Israel also carried out the most powerful attacks against Lebanon since the war started.
