Doge Says They Saved $55 Billion – Only Reports $8.6

$55 billion, equivalent to about $589 billion, is what the US Department of State says Doge has saved so far. But the Department of Efficiency is only reporting $16 billion of this – which turns out to be a miscalculation, writes Bloomberg.

An item of $8 million was written as $8 billion, writes the New York Times. After correction, only $8.6 billion in savings can be reported.

Confidence in Banks Declining

Confidence in Swedish banks is declining, according to the Media Academy's latest report for last year. From being in thirteenth place among the institutions with the most trust, the banks have slipped to 17th place.

The union has also fallen from 9th place to 12th place, and the Riksbank has slipped a notch to 6th place.

Helly Hansen sold for 10 billion to Canadians

Helly Hansen is being sold for 10 billion Norwegian kroner to the Canadian company Kontoor Brands, writes E24. Kontoor Brands owns Wrangler and Lee, among others.

The Norwegian sportswear brand has been owned by the Canadian company Canadia Tire since 2018. The headquarters will remain in Oslo.

Bankrupt Buttericks had nearly 37 million in debts

The party and retail company Buttericks filed for bankruptcy at the end of January after the Tax Agency opposed a reconstruction. According to the news agency Siren, the debts amounted to 36.8 million kroner in the bankruptcy estate.

DI writes that Buttericks opened its first store in Stockholm as early as 1903.

After Scholz's rail sneer: Germany even worse

After German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sneered at British rail traffic for being "broken", the Financial Times writes that it is at least more punctual than German rail traffic.

It was during a debate last week that the Chancellor said that German rail traffic risked becoming as bad as British if it were privatized. But Financial Times analysts state in a compilation that the state-owned train company Deutsche Bahn had worse punctuality than Britain's worst train operator.
