One critically injured

Several people are said to have been affected, reports CTV. According to local CP24, at least eight passengers have been injured.

– Eight are injured, one of them critically, a spokesperson for the Canadian health service tells the news agency Reuters.

Police, emergency services and an ambulance are at the scene.

The plane is upside down.

Confirming the accident

The Toronto Pearson International Airport has confirmed the incident on its official X account.

It is currently unclear what caused the accident.

The aircraft is a Bombardier CRJ900, a similar aircraft to the one involved in the fatal accident in Washington DC in January.

There was a snowstorm in Toronto this weekend. According to meteorologists at the Toronto airport, more than half a meter of snow has fallen in the past week.
