UN Chief: Full-scale war could break out again
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warns that a full-scale war in the Middle East could break out again after recent unrest and attacks, reports AFP.
– We must not underestimate the risk of the conflict escalating into a full-scale war, says Guterres.
The United States announced on Tuesday that it had carried out attacks on Iran in retaliation for what it claims was the shooting down of an American helicopter.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump warned of further attacks on Wednesday. According to Trump, negotiations with Iran are going too slowly.
“Now they will have to pay the price,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
Trump promises to “strike hard” against Iran later today
The US will carry out new attacks on Iran as early as Wednesday, provided that Iran does not agree to a deal. This is what Donald Trump says according to Reuters.
The American president claims that there is an agreement ready for Iran to sign. If that does not happen, new attacks are promised.
– We will strike hard against them again today.
Trump said earlier on Wednesday that he may order attacks on bridges and energy facilities, but now he does not want to answer whether those types of targets are in question.
