Several dead in Israeli attacks on Lebanon

Israel has carried out new deadly attacks in southern Lebanon, Lebanese media report.

A total of at least twelve people have been killed in the towns of Tayr Dibba and Deir Qanun al-Nahr, a hospital source told AFP.

More than 3,600 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in the country since March 2, when Israel escalated in Lebanon after rocket attacks from the Shiite militia Hezbollah, which in turn was a response to Israel and the US war on Iran.

The fighting has continued despite a ceasefire being declared in mid-April.

UN human rights chief Volker Türk announced on Wednesday that he would send a team to Lebanon to gather evidence of possible war crimes and violations of international law.
