Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is running for re-election this fall, the ruling Likud party announced.

The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump commented on Netanyahu's future in an interview with the American ABC News. According to media reports, Trump has made sharper demands on Netanyahu and warned that he will "soon be standing alone" in the war in the Middle East.

- Does he want to continue? Because, you know, he is a prime minister in wartime. We will very soon win the war one way or another, says Trump.

Likud writes on X that the prime minister will run in the Israeli elections this fall "and, God willing, win".
