The UN condemned intensified Israeli attacks in Gaza that reportedly killed at least 57 people in the past week, including six children.

-Nine months after the ceasefire was declared, it is still not safe anywhere for Palestinians in Gaza, said Thameen al-Kheetan, spokesperson for the UN human rights agency OHCHR.

He condemned the escalated violence by the Israeli military. At least 57 Palestinians were reported to have been killed between July 13 and 20.

The Israeli army says it has struck Gaza several times in recent days, targeting Hamas and Islamic Jihad. In addition, an arms depot, a weapons factory and a firing range were reportedly attacked, posing a threat to Israeli forces.

However, according to the UN, the attacks targeted residential buildings, at least one tent with internally displaced persons and other densely populated areas.
