US warning to Iran: Will pay many times over
The US and Iran's attacks on each other continue.
According to Iran, two ships in the Strait of Hormuz have been set on fire.
At the same time, President Donald Trump warns of strong retaliation after three American soldiers were killed in a short time.
For the tenth night in a row, the US and Iran have carried out attacks on each other.
Britain's military maritime traffic watchdog UKMTO states that a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an "unknown projectile" off the coast of Oman.
"The tanker's crew chief has reported to UKMTO that the crew has abandoned the ship and is currently on board a lifeboat," UKMTO writes in a statement.
Meanwhile, Iran claims that two more ships have been attacked in the southern route through the strait.
The warning to Americans
The US military command states that its new wave of attacks on Iran “is designed to further degrade Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz”.
“US forces have carried out attacks on Iranian military command centers, naval assets, missile and drone launch sites and air defense systems to weaken Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz”, they write on X.
US President Donald Trump has previously warned of a strong response after three US soldiers were killed, two in Jordan and one in Iraq, writes the BBC.
“Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been forwarded to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Caine and all leaders in the military”, he writes on Truth Social.
Iran has attacked US targets in Kuwait and Bahrain overnight, and the US Department of the Interior is warning of the tense situation due to the war.
In a post on X, the department writes that the situation in the Middle East is contributing to a “complex security situation”.
“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and increased vigilance and be prepared for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and potential travel disruptions”, the department writes.
Will force a vote
In the statement, they also write that Iranian attacks on US targets abroad cannot be ruled out.
According to the minority leader in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, Democrats will force a vote to end the country’s military operation against Iran.
“Every second that Trump prolongs his war in Iran is another second that our soldiers are in danger”.
