Russian warship fired sharply off the British coast
A Russian warship fired sharply off the British coast on Monday during a training exercise. The incident is now receiving British criticism.
On the same day that Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham took office, a Russian frigate carried out a military exercise in the English Channel, 40 nautical miles off the British coast.
The ship was in international waters, and warned a nearby British patrol ship before the shots were fired for the exercise, which according to The Times lasted for 30 minutes between the port city of Plymouth and the British Channel Islands.
Newly appointed Defense Secretary Wes Streeting calls the exercise "performative and irresponsible".
"It is the tip of an iceberg of daily threats that our country and our allies are forced to face," he said, according to The Guardian.
