Data: CIA chief on board plane to Moscow
A US military transport plane has flown to Moscow, where it is now parked, flight data shows. According to CBS News, CIA chief John Ratcliffe was on board.
The large aircraft, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, took off from Latvia on Tuesday morning and flew just over an hour to Vnukovo airport, according to the website Flightradar.
The plane appears to have originally taken off from Joint Base Andrews military airport, which is located near the US capital Washington DC, data shows.
There is no official information about who was on board or why the plane landed in Russia, but according to sources to CBS News, John Ratcliffe has gone to Russia to attend meetings.
According to CBS, before becoming director of the CIA last year, Ratcliffe participated in negotiations on prisoner exchanges between the United States and Russia.
