UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned an Israeli raid on a training center run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) outside Jerusalem.

Israeli forces began taking control of and evicting people from the building, located near the Qalandia refugee camp, on Tuesday.

“The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by this development, as it will deprive young people of the vocational training they have received,” Guterres’ spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said in a statement.

The training center was established in 1952 and offers vocational training to around 340 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank each year.

Israel has banned the UN agency from operating on Israeli territory since January last year.
