The leaders of Congo-Kinshasa and the armed group M23 have agreed on a roadmap for new peace talks, according to a joint statement.

The statement was published on Sunday by Switzerland after the country hosted the negotiations between Congo-Kinshasa and the M23, which is supported by neighboring Rwanda.

The parties signed a US-brokered peace agreement late last year with US President Donald Trump, but fighting has continued nonetheless.

After a new round of talks in Switzerland last week, the parties stated that they had outlined a way forward.

The talks have been held behind closed doors and have also included representatives from the US, Qatar, Switzerland, the African Union and Togo.
