EU promises new billion-dollar aid for Ukraine's air defense
The EU promises to support Ukraine's air defense with the equivalent of 67 billion kronor. The Union states that the money will go to air defense, ammunition and radar systems, among other things, writes Sky News.
- As Russia intensifies its attacks, we are stepping up our efforts to help Ukraine protect its population and defend its airspace, says European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a statement.
The support is part of a larger aid package of almost 1000 billion that the EU will pay out this year and in 2027. President Zelenskyj has warned that Ukraine is heading for a deficit of 250 billion kronor due to high defense spending.
