Six dead in heavy rains in Japan

At least six people have died in heavy rains across eastern Japan.

Among the dead were a man in his 60s or 70s who was found floating on a flooded road, and a 66-year-old woman who was stuck in her water-filled car, according to authorities in the Chiba region east of Tokyo.

Heavy rains across eastern Japan triggered landslide warnings late on Thursday. Thousands of people were stranded at Narita airport overnight and the rain caused major disruption to road and train traffic. More than 26,000 households in the Chiba region were without power on Friday.
