Putin denies plans for new mobilization
Russia will not carry out any new mobilization at the present time, according to President Vladimir Putin.
– There is no scenario today that requires mobilization, Putin said at a conference in Vladivostok.
– It is a disinformation campaign by the enemy ahead of the State Duma elections and it is aimed at influencing the result.
Ukraine has claimed that Putin is about to order further mobilization to bring soldiers into the war, which many analysts have also predicted given the enormously high number of soldiers killed in the war.
The last formal mobilization in the fall of 2022 was deeply unpopular and drove scores of Russian men into exile. The elections to the Russian State Duma in two weeks are designed for the president's ruling party to win.
