Two teenagers were reportedly shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian authorities say Israeli forces and settlers entered a village outside Ramallah. Two of the victims are identified as teenage boys and a public mourning is underway in the village.

A local authority representative tells AFP that Israeli settlers came there to steal sheep and that an initial confrontation was followed by Israeli soldiers “sieging the village”. According to him, they opened fire on Palestinians who approached the settlers.

The Israeli military says they were going to retrieve livestock stolen from settlers – and that “terrorists” then began throwing stones in a riot.

"The forces responded by opening fire on the primary insurgents to eliminate the threat. Hits were confirmed," a dispatch said, without mentioning any deaths.
