Demands on Spain and Greece: Give more to Ukraine
The EU foreign policy chief is wrapping up her words, but the demand is still clear: Spain and Greece are urged to do more for Ukraine.
The two countries are not directly mentioned by name when foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas arrives at today's EU defense ministers' meeting in Wicklow, south of Dublin. Between the lines, it is nevertheless clear that it is their stock of Patriot missiles that she wants to get over to Kiev.
- We know that some countries have interceptors (missiles) that are about to expire. It would be very good if they could be given to Ukraine so that they can use them to protect their people, says Kallas.
Spain earlier this year promised at least five missiles to Ukraine, while Greece has so far said no, citing the need for its stockpile to protect its own airspace.
