Ukraine and the US in talks about manufacturing Patriot

Negotiations are underway between Ukraine and the US to allow Ukraine to manufacture its own Patriot missiles. This is what Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News.

Ukraine has long been in great need of air defense missiles to protect itself against repeated Russian attacks. Already this summer, President Donald Trump said that the US would give the green light to Ukraine to manufacture its own missiles.

Rubio emphasizes that Ukrainian weapons factories can take several years to build. The Secretary of State therefore believes that a permit for Ukraine to manufacture missiles will have limited effect on the battlefield.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, there is still a possibility of negotiating a peace agreement with Ukraine, writes Reuters.

He says that several countries, including the US and China, are prepared to support an agreement, but that it must ultimately be resolved by “the two countries involved in the conflict”.

– Nevertheless, we are grateful to everyone who is trying to contribute to a solution. Is there a chance? In my opinion, yes, there is, he says during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The statement comes the day after NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Russia has become increasingly “careless” in its attempts to stop Western support for Ukraine, according to CNBC.

It is also not the first time that Putin has said that there could be peace after the country’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, but the negotiations have never resulted in anything concrete.
