South Korean politician: Zelenskyy sought to rally support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed in a UN speech last week that North Korean prisoners of war had been transferred to South Korea.

Suspicions have now emerged from the South Korean side that Zelenskyy intended to boost support for his cause within the country.

The South Korean government has criticized the Ukrainian president since he revealed from the podium that two North Koreans—who had fought for Russia—had been brought to South Korea. South Korean politician Lee Jae-myung has accused Zelenskyy of "breaking an agreement" and described the move as a "disappointment."

South Korean lawmaker Yoo Yeong-ha now states that the country's intelligence agency suspects Zelenskyy's motive for the disclosure was to sway public opinion in South Korea in favor of supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Another lawmaker, Youn Kun-young, states that the prisoners of war arrived in mid-September.
