Icebreakers and cables feature in new Arctic strategy
More icebreakers and an undersea cable to Greenland are part of a new Arctic strategy presented by the European Commission.
“The Arctic is a place where geopolitical tectonic plates collide,” noted European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a brief press briefing on the plan on Tuesday.
The strategy focuses on strengthening security, as well as improving the climate and living conditions in the region. Specifically, it mentions measures such as the addition of more icebreakers and an undersea cable to Greenland.
