Sources: Hegseth has met with Netanyahu
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an unannounced visit to Israel on Monday, two sources familiar with the matter told Axios.
Reports of the meeting emerge amid discussions between Israel and the US regarding the potential resumption of large-scale attacks against Iran, the outlet notes. Furthermore, just the other day, President Donald Trump expressed his full political support for Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s parliamentary election, which takes place in a week.
The two countries jointly launched the war against Iran on February 28 of this year.
Neither the Pentagon—the US Department of Defense headquarters—nor the Israeli Embassy in the US has commented on the reports.
