Spanish trade unions have called for a general strike on November 11, ahead of the new elections taking place that same month.

The strike is backed by the two largest trade union confederations, UGT and CCOO, with the aim of placing the issues of housing and wages on the agenda.

The public is being urged to "mobilize for better wages, decent housing, and price controls to counter the inflation that is eroding our purchasing power," according to a statement from the unions.

New elections will be held in Spain on November 29, after the government failed to pass its proposals to resolve the country's housing crisis.
