The US has accused Venezuela's ousted and captured leader Nicolás Maduro of torture and other crimes, according to a new indictment.

Maduro—who was arrested alongside his wife during a US military operation in the capital, Caracas, in January—had already been charged by US authorities with drug trafficking.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have previously denied all allegations. They are currently being held in custody in New York, though Cilia Flores has applied to be placed under house arrest instead.
