Ukraine is sending a delegation to the US for new talks regarding the war and the state of negotiations.

The delegation is set to meet with US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, on Friday.

"The meeting is expected to last two days. We also anticipate that a European delegation will join the negotiations," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday evening.

Earlier on Thursday, Zelenskyy stated that it is impossible to "negotiate with Russia on future economic projects on the one hand, while saying we have reached a sort of diplomatic stalemate on the other." US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently described the war as a stalemate.

The Ukrainian president also appealed to the US for assistance in defending Ukraine against Russian aerial attacks. Only then will Putin negotiate, according to Zelenskyy. He urged the US to "sew Russia's mouth shut" and "stop feeding them business deals."

Kushner and Witkoff visited Moscow and Kyiv in early September. Afterward, they expressed optimism regarding future trilateral meetings between the countries. Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev visited Washington just over a week ago, stating that he had discussed both an end to the war and "energy investments."
