British military police arrest two Latvians at base
Police from the British Ministry of Defence have arrested two individuals from Latvia at a military airbase north of London.
The two individuals, who reside in the UK, were arrested at the airbase's security perimeter and are suspected of trespassing.
The arrest took place at the RAF Molesworth base. The operation was carried out after a security patrol discovered an abandoned vehicle on Wednesday evening.
Counter-terrorism police are investigating the incident but are not currently linking it to the investigation concerning the RAF Fairford airbase, where five British citizens were arrested in late September. They were initially suspected of plotting terrorist acts but have since been released on bail. Additional individuals have also been arrested in connection with that incident.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has suggested that the Fairford case may have links to Iran.
