Prosecutor drops several charges against Duterte
Prosecutors are dropping most of the charges against Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte.
This leaves only the allegations regarding the misreporting of assets.
"We are staking everything on this. We believe the evidence is sufficient," says prosecutor Gerville Luistro.
If convicted, Duterte would be barred from holding political office, which would dash her plans to become president in 2028.
Duterte faced impeachment proceedings last spring. The charges now withdrawn in the Senate included bribery, corruption, and an alleged death threat against President Ferdinand Marcos.
Despite facing impeachment proceedings, Duterte leads the opinion polls ahead of the 2028 presidential election, according to independent surveys.
Sara Duterte is the daughter of the country's former president, Rodrigo Duterte, who faces accusations of criminal wrongdoing.

Det var i våras som Duterte ställdes inför riksrätt. De åtalspunkter som nu dragits tillbaka i senaten innefattade mutbrott, korruption och ett påstått mordhot mot president Ferdinand Marcos.
Trots att Duterte ställts inför riksrätt leder hon opinionsmätningarna inför presidentvalet 2028, enligt oberoende undersökningar.
Sara Duterte är dotter till landets brottsanklagade expresident Rodrigo Duterte.
