The Shiite militia Hezbollah will compensate Lebanese people whose homes were destroyed during the war with Israel.

The Iran-backed group will pay up to $14,000—equivalent to approximately 140,000 kronor—to Lebanese families whose homes were destroyed during the conflict with the neighboring country.

At a press conference on Tuesday, a senior representative of the Shiite militia accused the Lebanese state of failing to fulfill its obligations toward those forced to flee their homes during the war.

It is unclear how many people will receive compensation or what the total cost will be. The funds for the initiative will likely come from Iran, which has financed Hezbollah for decades.
