Burnham on live-streamed execution: "Abhorrent"
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham condemns potential US plans to live-stream an execution.
"I find it utterly abhorrent in many ways," says Burnham on the podcast *The Rest Is Politics*.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has claimed that the country's upcoming execution of convicted murderer Nidal Hasan should be made accessible to the public. According to Pentagon sources, the plan involves a live-streamed execution by firing squad.
The topic came up in an episode of the podcast *The Rest Is Politics* featuring UK Prime Minister Burnham.
"I would never support anything like that. I find it utterly abhorrent in many ways," he says.
According to US President Donald Trump, no formal decision regarding a live broadcast has been made.
Public executions were abolished in the US in the 1930s.
