Analysis: Erna Solberg calm in a demanding spat
The Norwegian opposition leader Erna Solberg, hugely popular party leader for Høyre, is in a "demanding balance" between blaming everything on her husband Sindre Finnes and taking responsibility herself for the scandal that broke out around his share dealings. This is stated by TV2's commentator Aslak Matre Eriksrud in an analysis.
At the same time, she takes the chaos in stride, he says. Solberg is significantly more collected now than at the shock election loss in 2021 and does not seem to take any defeat in advance.
"It is a long time until the next election. But at the same time, her political future is more unclear than ever," writes Aslak Matre Eriksrud.
VG's commentator Astrid Meland wonders if something could upset Solberg. During an interview on Thursday, she calmly and humbly answered questions about betrayal, marital problems and work. At the same time, she avoids criticism from within her party, something that Meland believes will come if the scandal leads to falling opinion figures.
But at the moment, Høyre has nothing to lose by firing Solberg, says Meland.

Solberg after the scandal: "I have responsibility"
Norway's former Prime Minister Erna Solberg does not intend to resign of her own accord. She says that in the first interviews since she told last week about her husband Sindre Finne's stock deals during Solberg's time as prime minister.
During the week, Solberg received harsh criticism for having "sacrificed" her husband - despite the fact that she, as Prime Minister, can be argued to have been ultimately responsible.
- No, I am not absolving myself of responsibility, I mean that it is clear that it is my responsibility, says Solberg to E24.
She believes that it is up to the party and the voters whether she should remain as party leader for Høyre.
- There is no reason to be party leader if the Høyr voters do not have confidence in me going forward, she says to Norwegian TV2.
