Many dead in a shooting in the United States - the perpetrator is being chased by several hundred police officers
At least 22 people have been killed in a mass shooting in at least two places in Lewiston in the state of Maine in the United States, CNN reports, citing the city's sheriff and a member of the council.
According to NBC's police sources, 15-22 people have been killed. A further 50–60 people are said to have been injured.
The city's roughly 37,000 residents have been told to lock their doors and stay indoors as hundreds of police across the state hunt a gunman who shot dead people inside a bowling alley and a restaurant.
The police are looking for a 40-year-old man named Robert Card, who, according to a Facebook post from the local police, is "of interest to the investigation" and should be considered "armed and dangerous". He is a trained weapons instructor and has previously threatened to attack a base belonging to the National Guard in the city of Saco, writes the local newspaper Sun Journal. This summer he spent two weeks in a clinic that treats mental illness.
The first alarms came shortly after 19:00 local time, 01:00 Swedish time.
