Putin led Russian drill in large-scale nuclear attack
The Russian military, under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, practiced a simulated "large-scale nuclear attack" on Wednesday, Reuters reports with reference to Russian state media.
Russia practiced launching nuclear weapons from both submarines, aircraft and land, and the exercise simulated a Russian response to a hostile nuclear attack, according to the Kremlin.
The exercise took place shortly after the Russian Federation Council decided to withdraw its ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which bans nuclear weapons tests. The council justified its decision by saying that it now "reflects the US position on the issue".

Minister: Favors Ukraine with Sweden in NATO
Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukrainian minister responsible for the defense industry, is visiting Sweden for the NATO defense industry meeting. This is reported by Ekot.
He is grateful for the Swedish help to the country, and happy that Swedish NATO membership now seems to be getting closer.
- It benefits Ukraine that Sweden joins NATO when tyrants can start wars.
The next step for NATO countries' defense industries is to start local production in Ukraine, says Kamyshin, according to SvD.
The group BAE Systems, which includes the Swedish Stridsfordon 90 manufacturer Hägglunds, is one of the producers that opened an office in Ukraine.
Local production of artillery shells is also underway, but the country is still highly dependent on imports to defend itself.
