The US and China agree to "strengthen ties" - want a meeting
The United States and China agree that they should work to strengthen ties between the countries in order to face global challenges, The Guardian reports.
The White House writes in a statement that both parties have confirmed that they want to have a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Biden previously invited Xi to the Apec summit in San Francisco in November, but Xi has yet to respond to the invitation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi nevertheless claims that China wants to "stabilize relations" and "reduce misunderstandings" between the countries.
