Shock victory for Peronism - second round of elections awaits
Ultraliberal Javier Milei faces incumbent Economy Minister Sergio Massa in a runoff in Argentina's presidential election on November 19. It is clear after the Peronist coalition that currently governs the country took a "shock victory" in Sunday's first round, writes Reuters.
With over 95 percent of the votes counted, Massa gathers 36.5 percent support, while Javier Milei has around 30.1 percent.
Milei, who calls himself an "anarcho-capitalist" and has been compared to Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro, led in opinion polls before the election. Among other things, he has promised to "burn down" the country's central bank and introduce dollars to tame the country's sky-high inflation.
In the second round, a duel awaits between two economic polar opposites, writes Reuters.

Pakistan's ex-leader Khan is charged with leaking documents
Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan is accused of leaking classified documents, AFP reports.
The documents he allegedly presented as evidence for his claims that he was ousted as part of a conspiracy linked to the US and Pakistan's military establishment, according to the investigation.
The former cricket star was sentenced in August to three years in prison for bribery, but the sentence was later overturned. Khan has instead been detained on the far more serious charge of disclosing classified documents.

Liberal party leader resigns: "My person stands in the way"
Denmark's minister of economic affairs Jakob Ellemann-Jensen resigns as party leader of Venstre. He announces this during a press conference, where he also states that he is completely leaving Danish politics.

Saddam Hussein's daughter sentenced to seven years in prison
Raghad Hussein, daughter of Iraq's overthrown dictator Saddam Hussein, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for promoting the banned Baath Party, writes NTB.
According to the verdict, she must have highlighted the party in connection with an interview with the Saudi Arabian television station Al Arabiya in 2021.
