Ceasefire resolutions voted down in the Security Council
Two resolutions on temporary ceasefires in Gaza have been voted down in the UN Security Council on Wednesday evening, writes Sky News.
The first resolution came from the US but both China and Russia vetoed the proposal. When Russia presented its plan, it was instead the United States and Great Britain that vetoed it.
The American resolution would lead to a shorter "humanitarian pause" in Gaza and the Russian one would enable a longer ceasefire. A spokesman for the British prime minister said the Russian plan would only benefit Hamas.
