Countries gather in Malta - to mediate peace in Ukraine 

On Saturday, peace talks will begin in Malta in the hope of finding a solution to the Russian invasion war in Ukraine, AP writes.  

 

Representatives from 65 countries are present, but not Russia and Ukraine, the news agency notes.  

 

Maria Zacharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, dismisses the peace meeting as "anti-Russian", according to AFP.  

 

The two-day meeting is the third round in the world's efforts to find a peaceful solution.  

 

On the agenda are issues such as security, energy, food and territorial options.

Kremlin: Ukrainian drone crashed at nuclear power plant 

The Kremlin claims that a Ukrainian drone has crashed into a facility for the storage of radioactive waste adjacent to the nuclear power plant in Kursk, Russia. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the Russian state news agency Tass.  

 

According to the news agency, the Russian authorities state that Ukraine must have understood that the action could have triggered a "full-scale nuclear disaster". 

 

- We call on the governments of all states to strongly condemn Kyiv's barbaric actions, says Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.S  

 

On Friday, the Kremlin claimed that a drone attack against the southern parts of the country had been prevented. According to two media outlets, the facade of a warehouse where radioactive waste is stored had been damaged at the time, according to Reuters.
