New York mayor accused of sexual assault
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is accused of a sexual assault that allegedly took place in 1993, according to court documents obtained by several media outlets.
The unnamed woman who accuses Adams states that the abuse was both physical and psychological in nature and occurred while they were both working together. A spokesperson for Adams' office says he "vigorously denies" the allegation.
- The mayor does not know who this person is. If they have met, he does not remember it, says the spokesperson.
The report was made under the temporary Adult Survivors Act. For a year, the law has suspended the state's three-year time limit for reporting sexual assault.

Finnish Lapland is preparing for an influx of refugees
At midnight, all but one border crossing between Russia and Finland are closed. The one that is kept open is located in Raja-Jooseppi in the northernmost parts of Finnish Lapland and, according to Yle, is the one that usually receives the fewest people.
The border staff are now preparing for a heavy influx of refugees to the difficult-to-access border control.
- We use the resources we have and then we get support in other ways, says Ville Ahtiainen, deputy commander of the border guard in Lapland.
The border station is north of Kiruna on the Swedish side and at the height of Murmansk on the Russian side.
The measure comes after the last month's large increase in migrants to the country. Finland accuses Russia of trying to destabilize the country with the migrants after joining NATO.

China to WHO: No unusual or new infectious agents
The World Health Organization WHO has been in contact with Chinese authorities regarding the new disease outbreak among children in the country. The authorities have shared health data with the WHO and cannot establish that any "unusual or new infectious agents" have been spread, writes AFP.
"The only thing that can be ascertained is an increase in respiratory diseases due to several previously known infectious agents," says the WHO in a statement.
The reports about the infection started coming in on Thursday morning when it became clear that several children had been infected with a previously undiagnosed type of pneumonia.
During the day, a number of researchers have called for calm, as it is still too early to draw any conclusions about the outbreak.
