"Heavy firefights" after attack on air base
Six people have attacked an air base in central Pakistan during the night of Saturday, Swedish time, according to Reuters. Three of the attackers are said to have been killed by the military.
"Due to the quick and effective action of our troops, the attack has been stopped and neutralized, and the safety of personnel and equipment has been restored," the military writes in a statement.
However, according to the Hindustan Times, early Saturday morning there was still "heavy fire fighting" between the remaining three attackers and the military inside the air base.
The Islamist organization Tehreek-e-Jihad has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a statement the organization is said to have sent out to local media.
In unverified images from the event that are being circulated on social media, what appears to be a burning aircraft can be seen. However, according to the military, none of those working at the air base were injured during the attack.

Gay Games in Hong Kong - despite strong opposition
With 3,000 people in the stands, the Hong Kong Gay Games were inaugurated today at the Queen Elisabeth Stadium in the special autonomous region.
This weekend's competitions are the first time any "Gay Games" have been held in Asia, and have faced fierce opposition from LGBTQ opponents within Hong Kong's self-government.
- Everything that can be thrown at the games has been thrown at them. All we want to do is get together, have fun, and celebrate life, Douglas Kight, who competes for Hong Kong's dragon boat team in the competition, told the South China Morning Post.
On Wednesday, Junius Ho Kwan, along with several colleagues in Hong Kong's parliament, called for the games to be stopped by the authorities. He described the event as "criminal" and an attack on traditional Chinese values.
