Ex-dictator back in prison after escape
Guinea's former dictator Moussa "Dadis" Camara has been captured and taken back to the prison he escaped from earlier on Saturday, AFP reports.
Gunmen reportedly stormed the prison and freed the ex-dictator early Saturday morning. The military was quickly deployed and the country's borders were closed.
- Captain Moussa Camara has been found alive and he has been taken back to prison, says a spokesperson for the army.
After many years in exile, Moussa Camara returned to Guinea after a coup d'état in 2021. He is suspected, among other things, of involvement in a massacre of protesters during his time as the country's autocratic ruler from 2008-2010.

Gunfire in Guinea - capital shut down Guinea's capital
Conakry has been locked down by security forces, while reports of gunfire have started pouring in, according to AFP.
- The city center has been closed since dawn. We can neither get in nor out, a shopkeeper in the area told AFP.
Another witness says that gunfire can be heard from the cordoned-off area, where, among other things, the presidential palace is located.
