Iran's Supreme Leader: Had a "different opinion" about the agreement
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had a "different opinion" about the peace agreement with the United States, he wrote in a statement according to Reuters.
But because of his relationship with the Iranian president and other members of the Security Council, he gave his permission to sign the agreement, Khamenei writes.
Furthermore, Khamenei writes that Iran will not accept if the United States is "too demanding" in the negotiations going forward.
Congress has received a copy of the peace agreement with Iran
The US Congress has received a copy of the agreement between the US and Iran, reports Reuters, which has also seen the document.
The points of the agreement are in line with the draft that an anonymous source read out to the American press on Wednesday evening.
The agreement includes, among other things, that all military operations should cease immediately and permanently on all fronts, including Lebanon. The US will also lift its blockade of Iranian ports within 30 days, and Iran will allow free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days.
Washington and Tehran are to negotiate a final agreement within 60 days, and that timeframe can be extended if both parties agree.
Vance on Israelis critical of the agreement: “Trump is your only ally”
US Vice President JD Vance is taking a dig at Israeli politicians who have criticized the agreement with Iran, Reuters reports.
– If I were in Israel’s cabinet, I probably wouldn’t attack the only powerful ally I have left in the whole world, he says during a press conference.
He also takes the opportunity to remind Israeli ministers who disapprove of the agreement that two-thirds of Israel’s defense budget was paid for “by American tax money.”
