Vance: US to lift blockade on Iranian ports
The US will lift the blockade on Iranian ports, US Vice President JD Vance announced according to the AP.
The US Navy has allowed more than a dozen ships to pass the blockade and sail on to Iranian ports, according to Vance.
He also said that over 12.5 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz overnight.
Iranian state media also announced that the Strait of Hormuz “remains monitored” and under Iranian control.
Iranian top: Hormuz will not return to how it was
The Strait of Hormuz will not return to how it was before the war, says Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf according to Iranian state media. This is reported by Reuters.
Ghalibaf says that Iran will “of course” charge for “services” in the Strait of Hormuz. He did not provide details on what such fees would look like.
In the past, US President Donald Trump has been strongly critical of Iran's statements about imposing tariffs on ships passing through the strait, which is also illegal under international law. However, Iran has repeatedly said it would levy other fees.
