More than 70 Palestinians have been detained by Israeli forces in raids on the West Bank on Saturday.
The raids follow a conflict between Israeli settlers and Palestinians in the town of Tell.
The Israeli military confirms that it searched and in some cases stormed 300 locations in the West Bank on Saturday. The 70 detainees are accused of being suspected “terrorists”, according to Israel.
One of the locations searched by soldiers was a specialist hospital in Nablus, according to hospital director Ghassan Barkat.
“This should not be allowed to happen in a healthcare institution,” says Barkat.
Israel's offensive was ordered after Friday's deadly clash in an area near the town of Tell. Four Palestinians and two Israelis were shot dead.
The circumstances surrounding the firefight remain unclear. According to several testimonies in Tell, the local population was confronted by a group of settlers - after which Israeli forces were called in. One of the Israelis killed was reportedly part of a local defense force.
Concerns and tensions in the West Bank have increased in recent years in line with Israel's expansive settlement policy.
