Russia criticizes NATO’s support for Ukraine

Russia criticizes the support that NATO promised to Ukraine during the alliance’s meeting in Turkey.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused NATO members of an “irresponsible decision that could lead to disaster” and also accused European countries of preparing “for an armed conflict with Russia.”

During the meeting on Wednesday, NATO countries pledged 70 billion euros in support for Ukraine in 2026 and at least the same amount in 2027. Of that, 30 billion per year will come from the EU’s agreed 90 billion loan.

In connection with the NATO meeting, US President Donald Trump promised, in a separate meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, that the country would receive a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense system.
