Former FBI Director faces charges – again

The U.S. Department of Justice has brought charges against the former director of the FBI—the nation’s federal law enforcement agency—James Comey, for the third time.

According to documents made public in a federal court in Washington on Monday, the allegations concern the disclosure of classified information to a "person not authorized to receive it."

Last year, Comey was charged with providing false information to Congress—a case that was dismissed by a federal judge. In April of this year, he was charged with threatening President Trump in an Instagram post.

A long-time critic of Trump, he was dismissed from his position at the FBI in 2017, during Trump’s first term. The dismissal occurred in the context of an investigation into whether any members of Trump’s presidential campaign had colluded with Russia.
