New attack on Riyadh International Airport
A terminal has been struck in the second attack of the weekend on Riyadh International Airport, the AP reports. There are currently no reports of casualties.
The Iran-backed Houthi militia has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
Twelve people were killed and around 300 injured in yesterday's attack on the airport. The airport has remained closed since then.
Houthis warn travelers: Avoid Saudi airports
Houthi rebels in Yemen are warning travelers and flight crews against being at Saudi airports or using Saudi airspace. AFP reports this, citing a post on X by the militia group's spokesperson, Yahya Saree.
"The airports and airspace are targets for attack and constitute an operational arena for our forces, with the exception of the airports in Mecca and Medina," Saree writes.
According to sources speaking to AFP, Riyadh International Airport remains closed following the attack on the Saudi King Khalid Airport on Saturday, in which twelve people died and over 300 were injured.
EU official: Attacks could damage energy supplies
The UN, along with several heads of state and government, condemns the Houthi rebels' attack on the Saudi King Khalid Airport, AFP reports.
UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting calls the attack "reprehensible" and "a dangerous escalation." The situation risks destabilizing key hubs for global transport and energy supplies, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"It is sending shockwaves across the world. These deadly attacks on civilians must stop immediately," she says.
